Works to Choose

1.
Building a Wooden Bridge

To build a bridge between Kg Bukit Mat Daling Village and Kampung Tanah Minda Village. The bridge is the lifeline and main route between the two villages, without which become impassable during the rainy season.

We need to construct a 13 meter X 1 meter wooden bridge linking the two villages. Structural timber will be harvested from the forest by the villagers prior to our arrival. However we need to buy big nuts and bolts, nails, cement, etc, which we have to bring with us or pre purchase by community leaders.

We need to buy some tools and rent truck to ferry the timber. We may have to manually saw timber to make surface planks.

2. Repair of Houses

Most of the families here are under poverty line. However the community leaders will identify the poorest of the poor to have their houses repair by our team. There are aged single mothers and senior citizen houses which in a very bad condition. However, due to our limited resources, we can only offer minor repairs.

3. Children Activities

A few children activities have been planned throughout the duration of the camp. We will have a three day motivation camp and one of the slots is English Enhancement (about 3 hours). International participants may choose take part as facilitators. After the completion of motivation camp, we will have English classes and tuition in the afternoon of the following days.

We have selected a few children games. Participants are welcome to come up with their simple games. Please understand that they speak very limited English. However our local volunteers will be at their assistance.

4. Recreational Activities with villagers

Some of afternoons will fill up with recreational activities with villagers. Participants may suggest any kind of group activities and shall be finalized within next few weeks. However, due to limited resources and equipment available in this remote village, some of the equipment may have to be brought in. Please suggest simple yet interesting games for men, women and children.

5. Camping

We also plan to have participants to camp out on the river bank for 2 nights. During these two nights, the villagers will join our group on the sandy beach for parenting talks by our team. Other team will conduct children activities, such as environmental talk and astrology.
